Email signature:
Want to promote the upcoming show in an easy, pervasive, subtle
and non-spammy way?
Put a plug for the show at the bottom of your signature, automatically
inserted after every email you send or reply to. Discreet, yet bloody
obvious.
OK, so how do you do this so it's automatic? Just follow these simple
instructions (you may want to print them so you can follow along
better)...
1) Select the text of the plug on the left, including the horizontal
lines. Press ctrl-c (or click the Edit menu then click Copy).
Note: The following instructions are for Outlook 2002 and Outlook
Express 6, so if you have a different version, the exact details
may vary somewhat, but you should be able to work it out. If you
use Eudora, or Entourage, or something else, just go looking in
the preferences and try figure it out :)
If you use MS Outlook:
2) In Outlook, click the Tools menu and click Options.
Select the [Mail Format] tab, then click [Signatures].
Click [Edit] or create a [New]
signature. Paste (ctrl-V) the text onto the end of your new, or
existing signature. Click [OK]. Make sure the modified
signature is selected in the "Signature for new messages"
drop-down list, and even better, also select it in the "Signature
for replies and forwards" list . Click [OK].
Proceed to step 3.
If you use MS Outlook Express:
2) Right click on this link,
and click "Save Target As..". Save it
somewhere safe and remember it's location (I suggest C:\Program
Files\Outlook Express ). In Outlook Express, click the Tools
menu and click Options. Click the [Signatures]
tab. Click [Edit] or create a [New]
signature. In the Edit Signature section, select the File
option and [Browse] to locate the attached file
you saved earlier. Make sure the modified signature is "Set
as Default" and the "Add signature to
outgoing messages" option is ticked, and even better,
untick the "Don't add signatures to replies and forwards".
Click [OK].
3) Phew - you're done!
